Welcome to the First Coast Community Music School

We are located on the beautiful South Campus of Florida State College at Jacksonville. We are a school that is dedicated to providing the highest quality music instruction for children, adults, and families regardless of background, or experience and are available for after-school, evening and Saturday lessons. FCCMS has been enriching the First Coast communities by offering outstanding private and group music instruction for all ages since 2004. Public performances and community outreach programs are a key part of our nonprofit mission, and we sponsor many ensembles, orchestras and events covering a broad spectrum of musical interests.

Attention Music Students!

PRACTICE MARATHON

A Fundraising Project for KIPP

FCCMS is hosting its first annual Practice Marathon! Make your practice count for a KIPP student! Participate in the PRACTICE MARATHON!

It’s easy. Sign up sponsors for each half hour you practice or rehearse during a two week period

(April 30 – May 11). All money raised will be used to fund a scholarship for private lessons for a KIPP student.

What is KIPP?
KIPP, the Knowledge is Power Program, is a national network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory public schools with a track record for preparing students in underserved communities for success in college and life. There are currently 99 KIPP schools in 20 states across the U.S. serving over 26,000 students. KIPP Jacksonville opened the first KIPP school in Florida, KIPP Impact Middle School, in August 2010 and plans to grow to five schools in Jacksonville over the coming years. Each student is required to participate in band throughout their time in KIPP. For more information check their website; http://www.kippjax.org

Why do the Marathon?
Along with the joy of giving a KIPP student access to private music lessons, the Practice Marathon gives students a chance to see how much they can improve when they commit to a consistent practice routine. Plus we will be giving away prizes for most hours practiced, most raised, most sponsors, best performance, most significant progress and other fun awards.

Join us May 12 for the festivities, awarding of prizes and our first Bach festival concert. Students who wish to perform a piece by Johann Sebastian Bach in the concert are welcome! You are not required to perform to participate in the Practice Marathon.
