The Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra (JSYO)

Under the direction of Scott Gregg, the JSYO enrolls 220 young musicians between the ages of 7 and 22, who are admitted through competitive auditions. Now in its 12th season, the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra has five levels of instruction available to young musicians.

• Foundation Strings – beginning strings students
• Junior Strings – young string students
• Premiere Strings – advancing string students
• Repertory Orchestra – intermediate full orchestra
• Philharmonic – advanced full orchestra
Scott Gregg, the current Principal Conductor of the orchestra has held the position for ten years. The orchestra, in addition to its rehearsals, also offers a concerto competition with a performance with its parent orchestra – the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. Also offered are opportunities to participate in chamber ensembles, hear guest soloists and participate in a Major/Minor Concert which unites youth symphony musicians with the professionals from the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra for a collaborative performance.
